Become a Ref

Become a Referee?

Over 14 and interested in becoming a referee with us?

Arguably the toughest, yet most important job on the pitch. Without a Ref, the game doesn't happen. Yet as a club, we struggle every single weekend to find enough referees to cover all of our fixtures.

If you or your child over 14 is interested in becoming a referee then please get in touch with us and we can discuss getting them onto a course and giving them some taster matches with our youngest teams.

It's a great way to be involved in youth football without being a player or coach, and a source of extra income as we pay you for every match you officiate.

Pre-requisites

Before we can put you on a Referee training course there are a few things you need to do:

Step 1: Complete the FA Safeguarding for All course (Free) which can be found here: https://learn.englandfootball.com/courses/safeguarding/safeguarding-for-all

Step 2: Complete the FA Guide to the laws of the game online learning (Free), which can be found here: https://learn.englandfootball.com/courses/Refereeing/guide-to-the-laws-of-the-game

Step 3: Once you've completed Steps 1 and 2, contact the club and ask to speak to one of us about refereeing.

Step 4: We will meet with you, and arrange for you to referee a couple of our 5v5 games to see how you get on.

Step 5: If successful in your taster matches, we will ask you to sign a training reimbursement agreement to ensure we are not at a loss if we fund your training and you don't remain at the club for a sufficient length of time to return our investment. Then we will arrange for your referee course and if you're over 16, a DBS check and Safeguarding for Children training.

Step 6: Complete five assessment games to qualify as a referee.

Step 7: That's it, you're now a referee and we will offer you fixtures every weekend.
