About us
Respect, Effort, Fun...
We are driven by a common passion – a love for movement, competition, and the joy of play. Founded with the belief that sports should be accessible and enjoyable for all, we've created a vibrant community where people of diverse backgrounds and abilities come together.
Retford United Juniors Football Club currently coaches over 250 children every week. From as young as four years old, right through to our U18s.
We currently have 18 mixed gender teams, and 1 girls only team, playing in various leagues across Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire.
We welcome all genders and abilities to our club. Our aim is to generate an atmosphere & environment conducive to young players being able to develop their footballing skills, as well as their social skills and confidence, in a fun & uncompetitive manner, until they're at an age where they're mature enough to engage in competitive football.

Our emphasis is on player development, having fun & team spirit rather than the win at all costs attitudes of other clubs. We strongly believe in the long term development of children both on & off the pitch not only as players but as young people as well. We as a club are committed to providing the best possible coaching aided by the very best facilities, equipment & playing conditions. Our policies to child safety, discrimination & laws of the game are paramount to our success as a club & the way in which we conduct ourselves within it.
The club was founded in 1987 by Retfordian Brian Jackson to give the town a senior club along with a juniors section starting from under 10’s. The club’s youth development has been continuous with many professional players starting their journey at RUJFC. Still attracting over 250 children a season to wear the famous Retford united Black and white striped kit. in the 90’s the RUJFC has big success in the Co-op Mid Lincs league often winning the league over multiple age groups along with various cup competition’s.
We take children as young as 4 in our open "Friday Night Football" sessions, to develop them and get as many of them onto our teams from the age of 6 up.
